When Should You Book Your Spray Tan?
Your Ultimate Timing Guide for Every Occasion
If you're planning a spray tan for an upcoming event, whether it’s a wedding, holiday, photoshoot, or simply a treat for yourself ; timing is everything.
Here’s our expert guide on when to book your spray tan for the best results depending on your plans:
Weddings – 2 Days Before
Two days before your big day is the sweet spot. Why?
-
It gives your tan plenty of time to settle and develop to its full depth and glow.
-
You’ll have time for at least two showers, helping to wash off excess bronzer and minimise the risk of any transfer to your dress.
-
Realistically, you’ll be run off your feet the day before, so getting your tan done earlier avoids any last-minute stress.
Holidays – The Day Before (or 2 Days Max)
We recommend tanning 1 day before you jet off or at most, 2 days before.
-
Your tan will be at its freshest and most vibrant when you arrive.
-
You’ll avoid over-washing it before you even hit the beach!
-
Daily moisturising while away helps prolong your glow, and we always recommend packing a tinted moisturiser or tan extender to top up around day 3–4 of your trip.
Fitness Shoots – 1 to 2 Days Before
For photoshoots, especially fitness-related ones:
-
Give your tan 1–2 days to develop a rich, even colour that enhances muscle tone and definition under lights and cameras.
-
Avoid using oils or oil-based products before or during the shoot, these can break down your tan and cause patchiness in photos.
The “Just Because” Tan – Anytime!
You don’t need a reason to feel good in your skin.
Spray tans aren’t just for events, they’re perfect for a confidence boost, a mood-lift, or just to feel glowing going into the weekend. Book in whenever suits your schedule best!
Personal Preferences & Trials
These are our general recommendations, but every body is different. Some clients love how their tan looks on day 2, while others prefer day 3 for peak glow.
💡 Top tip:
If you’ve got a wedding or a major event coming up, book a trial tan first to test how the colour develops on your skin and which day it looks best for you.
